Limitations of Winsor Pilates
According to Pilates training, leaner look is achieved through proper muscle toning. It can help you in toning your abs, butt, thighs, and underarms. By losing weight, you can also gain toned muscles. By having toned muscles, calories are burned more efficiently so you can maintain your desired weight. Sounds fantastic doesn't it.
The key to evaluation of the Winsor Pilates is four-fold.
1. Muscle isolation
2. Resistance
3. Workout efficiency
4. Recreational experience
Muscle Isolation
Perhaps the biggest drawback with dynamic sequencing is it's lack of built-in resistance. Without spring-loaded resistance your mind is unable to direct it's energy to the tiny muscle fibres that you desire to tone.
Resistance
Following on the same principle, after your body has begun to experience the mind's instructions to firm up, it develops a base degree of strength. Now after a small amount of time your body will not get a benefit from the same exercise. That is, until you add resistance. Not many women want to bulk up, and so added weights are not neccesary. But most women do dream of a tight toned body and a mild to moderate level of resistance is essential for core muscle regeneration which leads to a toned look and feel.
Workout Efficiency
One mild limitation with the Winsor Pilates system is it's efficiency. As much as we all love Pilates we are all limited by time. For the time we invest into exercise we naturally want the greatest investment return in our bodies. A pilates reformer enables you to tone multiple muscle groups simultaneously with over 50 exercises to choose from. You can be working your lower abs and shoulders together at once. Mari Winsor emphasises dynamic sequencing where the principles are one movement at a time - so you might need twice as long to get the same result you could obtain doing exercises on a pilates reformer.
Recreational Experience
We have a deep respect for the contribution Mari Winsor has made to the Pilates community. Her DVDs are entertaining and watching her is nothing short of an inspiration. If you get a chance we would recommend viewing her show at least once as it's great fun, she encourages all women to reach their fitness goals and empowers you to do so.
